Connie Nelson, a Nashville native, is a singer/songwriter and guitarist for Another Morning, coming to the group with a performance pedigree matched by few.
An award-winning professional actor with a 30-year career in stage, film, and television, Connie has amassed New York and Regional acting credits, including leading roles with The Acting Company, Ensemble Studio Theatre, National Alliance for Musical Theatre, Lark Theatre, Boston’s American Repertory Theater, Theatre 3, as well as Arena Stage, Casa Manana, Cincinnati Playhouse, Dallas Theater Center, Dallas Summer Musicals, Guthrie Theater, Pittsburgh CLO, Shakespeare Dallas, Stage West, Walnut Street Theatre, and many more.
Two seasons as Detective Gwen McGorry on HBO’s dramatic series Oz, several guest starring roles on Law & Order, and appearances on Walker, Texas Ranger and other television series are among her TV credits. Connie has also provided voiceovers for numerous radio and television spots.
For her starring role in the film Late Bloomers (1996)—which was presented at film festivals around the globe and was an Official Selection at the Sundance Film Festival—Connie received the Lone Star Film & Television Award for Best Actress in a Feature Film. Other awards Connie has received include Theatre Three Patron Favorite, Dallas Observer/Best of Dallas, Dallas Theatre Critics Forum Award (three-time recipient), and nominations for the Leon Rabin (Dallas), the Barrymore (Philadelphia), and the Cincinnati Entertainment Award.
Connie received her training at Southern Methodist University in the Professional Actor Training Program and has taught acting and improv in numerous venues. Connie also worked with children with special needs at The Gillen Brewer School in Manhattan.
Connie is married to David, Another Morning’s ukulelist.
